Our Mandate
The mandate of BPS is to ensure the safety and security of the peoples of Botswana. The organisation is established by an act of parliament under the Botswana Police Act, Cap 21:01, Section 6. The Act outlines the mandate of the BPS as follows:
The Service shall be employed throughout Botswana to:
- Protect life and property
- Prevent and detect crime, repress internal disturbances
- Maintain security and public tranquility, apprehend offenders
- Bring offenders to justice
- Dully enforce all written laws with which it is directly charged
- Generally, maintain the peace
A law enforcement agency of repute
To provide a professional policing service in partnership with the community.
