BPS OFFICERS HONOURED FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE
The President of the Republic of Botswana, Advocate Duma Gideon Boko, recently led a prestigious Medal Awards Ceremony held at the Special Support Group Parade ground, to recognise and honour 901 members of the Botswana Police Service (BPS) for their outstanding service, commitment and contribution to the safety and security of the nation.
He was joined in bestowing the medals by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Dithapelo Keorapetse, Minister for State President, Honourable Moeti Caesar Mohwasa, Minister of International Relations, Honourable Dr. Phenyo Butale and the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Honourable Nelson Ramaotwana.
Among the Honours bestowed was the Botswana Police Meritorious Service (BPM), awarded to police officers for a service of meritorious nature and is awarded to candidates who has served for 12 years and set high example by his/her conduct and diligence.
Also recognised were recipients of the Botswana Police Distinguished Service Order (DSO), awarded to police officers who have distinguished themselves by devotion to duty. It is attained after serving for a period of 30 years.
The Botswana Police Jubilee Service Medal (JSM) was presented to those who have served at least 25 years and have shown by their conduct and character that they are worthy of the Honour.
The prestigious Botswana Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (LSGCM), awarded to officers who have served for continuous period of 18 years without among others, not convicted of any offence of a deemed to bring the name of Botswana Police Service into disrepute, has not been frequently guilty of minor disciplinary offences.
