The Botswana Police Service (BPS) has received a message of commendation from the President of the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL), Mr Lucas Philippe, in recognition of the BPS's professionalism, dedication and continued contribution to regional and international policing on the occasion of the Botswana

The Botswana Police Service (BPS) has received a message of commendation from the President of the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL), Mr Lucas Philippe, in recognition of the BPS's professionalism, dedication and continued contribution to regional and international policing on the occasion of the Botswana Police Service Medal Awards Ceremony. In a letter addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Commissioner Dinah Marathe, on Botswana Police Service Medal Awards Ceremony, Mr Philippe extended his warm congratulations to all serving and retired members of the Botswana Police Service. He acknowledged the unwavering commitment, courage and professionalism demonstrated by officers in safeguarding the people of Botswana, upholding the rule of law and contributing to national peace and security. The INTERPOL President further noted that the Medal Awards Ceremony provides an important opportunity to honour the service, dedication and sacrifices of the men and women who have contributed to the growth and success of the Botswana Police Service since its establishment in 1884. Recognising the increasing complexity of transnational crime, Mr Philippe underscored the importance of international cooperation among law enforcement agencies. He commended the Botswana Police Service for its active role in strengthening regional and global policing partnerships, describing its contribution as instrumental in advancing the shared mission of building safer communities and a more secure world. Mr Philippe also praised Botswana's participation in Operation Thunder 2025, a global operation coordinated by INTERPOL and the World Customs Organisation to combat wildlife and forestry crime. Concluding his message, the INTERPOL President expressed appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices of all members of the Botswana Police Service and conveyed his best wishes for a successful and memorable Botswana Police Service Medal Awards Ceremony.
