Botswana Police Service (BPS), hosted a delegation of newly promoted senior officers of the rank of Brigadier and Colonel from Botswana Defence Force (BDF) at Police Headquarters in Gaborone today (10/09/2026). The high-level meeting is part of the ongoing strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening collaborative efforts and operational synergy between the two security institutions. Welcoming the delegation, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Katlholo Mosimanegape, extended his congratulations to the senior officers on their recent promotions. He emphasised that in their new leadership capacities, it is paramount for the officers to profoundly understand the collaborative roles and joint responsibilities shared between BPS and BDF. Acting Commissioner Mosimanegape stated that as both institutions share a mutual responsibility and a common mandate to protect Botswana and its people, they must regularly engage in strategic partnerships to advance the country’s national security agenda. Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, the Head of BDF delegation, Brigadier Dr Steven Thaga, highlighted that the visit provides an invaluable opportunity for the new generation of BDF leadership to gain deeper insights into the inner workings of BPS. He added that the engagement further cements the strong, historical relationship that has long existed between the two organisations. During the session, the Director of Strategy Development and Performance Monitoring Branch, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Neo Maimela, briefed the delegation on the ongoing transformation and structural progression of the BPS. She informed the meeting that BPS has recently launched its fifth Corporate Development Strategy (CDS V). Senior Assistant Commissioner Maimela explained that the new Strategy serves as a guiding blueprint for the organisation, heavily inspired by government objectives, public expectations and international policing standards. To effectively align with these points of reference, the Director revealed that the vision of the new CDS is to build a modern and proactive law enforcement agency of repute.
