The three-day National Workshop on the INTERPOL Silver Notice and Other INTERPOL Policing Capabilities concluded yesterday (11/09/26) in Gaborone.

The three-day National Workshop on the INTERPOL Silver Notice and Other INTERPOL Policing Capabilities concluded yesterday (11/09/26) in Gaborone. Officially closing the workshop, Financial Intelligence Agency Deputy Director General, Mr Andrew Beleng, encouraged participants to translate the knowledge gained into practical action, share it with colleagues, and contribute to addressing legislative, policy, technological and operational gaps in the fight against organised and financial crime. Mr Beleng further commended participants for their commitment and active engagement throughout the three days. He also appreciated the INTERPOL Regional Bureau for Southern Africa for its continued support to Botswana and for facilitating the capacity-building initiative. The workshop provided an important platform for law enforcement and relevant stakeholders to strengthen their understanding and practical use of INTERPOL policing capabilities, particularly in tracing criminal assets, following illicit financial flows, strengthening intelligence-led investigations and enhancing information sharing across institutions and borders. The workshop also highlighted the importance of strengthening the ability to identify, trace and recover assets derived from criminal activities, while ensuring that investigations and law enforcement responses keep pace with criminals who operate across jurisdictions and increasingly through digital platforms. Furthermore, the workshop strengthened professional networks, inter-agency cooperation and international partnerships, equipping participants with knowledge, tools and connections that can support future investigations and enhance the effectiveness of cross-border cooperation.
